Nourishing Michigan Indigenous Children with Cultural Health and Equity (N-MICCHE)

This proposed project addresses health outcome inequities for Michigan Indigenous children, who experience a higher prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes than their white peers. N-MICCHE would expand the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan's work in pursuit of this mission by developing novel components and classroom activities for Michigan's Tribal Home Visiting and Head Start programs, respectively. These efforts would support health by promoting traditional food practices and access among Indigenous families in Michigan with young children.
