Work with members of the Mid-Michigan Stewardship Initiative, Ingham County Parks staff, Meridian Township staff, and community volunteers in efforts to control invasive species in Ingham and Clinton counties and to restore natural areas in the Lake Lansing watershed. Also work with Ingham County Parks and MSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers to maintain demonstration gardens in Lake Lansing Park South. Designed and installed rain gardens and shoreline demonstrations gardens in 2011-2012. They feature plants native to Michigan and illustrate how native plant rain gardens and shoreline buffer strips intercept and filter contaminated storm water runoff, thereby reducing erosion and improving water quality. Interpretive signs were created and installed to provide educational outreach for over 100, 000 annual visitors to Lake Lansing Park South. Involved in fundraising and recruiting, organizing/educating/supervising community volunteers to help maintain the gardens, updating educational signage, and interacting with park visitors.
