As a specialist for the U.S. Department of State, directed a project for the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Using podcasting as a medium for English language learning, public diplomacy, and cross-cultural communication, engaged in a collaborative and creative process with teachers and students from Russia. Members of this community discussed the form and content of various podcasts, while engaging in conversations about language and cultural topics with students at American universities. Facilitated a production process, helping participants to identify their target listener, develop a mission and vision statement, design a logo, engineer the sound, and select elements such as structure, style, topics, music, and title. In teams, participants designed a sustainable plan to produce an ongoing series in English about Russian and American culture, with several episodes already available on major podcasting platforms.
