With two of my graduate students in the Second Language Studies PhD Program, we offered a year long professional development workshop for 20 fifth grade through college-level teachers of Arabic and Russian. The PD workshop was anchored by a LifeLong Education course in June 2021, which was virtual, on language assessment for classroom, proficieny-based goals (formative assessment). The project had pre-reading activities in Spring 2021, and continued in Fall 2021 with Friday afternoon office hours during which time the LifeLong Education teachers of Arabic and Russian continued working on their assessment design projects with us.
