MI Generally Accepted and Management Practices for the Care of Farm Animals
The MI GAAMPS for the Care of Farm Animals includes all species of farmed animal including, game birds, deer, South American camelids, fox and mink, fish and bees. I chaired the committee since 2007 through December 2021. Each year a committee of scientists who are experts in each of the farmed species reviews the species specific chapters and scientific literature to revise and update. The goal is to give farmers the guidance they need in the care of their animals to prevent nuisance situations and animal welfare problems. This committee reports to the MI Department of Ag and Rural Development and ultimately the MI Commission of Agriculture.
