WRA 395- Community Engagement
For WRA 395, "Writing Center Theory and Practice" Fall 2020 Semester, undergraduate students partnered with the Community Writing Center, a community-university partnership between East Lansing Public Library and the Writing Center at MSU, to offer direct literacy support and literacy programmingto community members during Fall 2020. The goals of the project were for students to participate in community engagement around literacy and develop their behaviors and practices around consulting. Particularly, students (N=9) worked an average of one hour per week between September 15-December 15 2020 to support the Community Writing Center to satisfy the CE component of WRA 395, Writing Center Theory and Practice. In particular students (a) provided email feedback for the community writing center using a Google form for community members to express interest in email feedback (b) help open Zoom hours monthly, (c)
developed community engagement digital programing with collaboration with WRA 395 (“Writing Professional Emails” and “Resume Building”), and (d) continued the design of the website.
