Community-Based Developmental Screening
I provided training in an established developmental screening system, the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) to three daycare/preschool centers in the central and southeastern regions of MI. The focus of the study was to understand feasibility of training providers in this system, and their ability to use the ASQ to communicate developmental concerns to families, including concerns regarding risk for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The project was initiated given limited uptake of comprehensive screening programs in early childhood centers and the potential to leverage the high level of contact these centers have with families in identifying risks for ASD earlier in children's development.
