Parent Engagement in Community-Based Parent Child Interaction Therapy
My research team collaborated with a local psychological clinic to examine predictors of parent participation and engagement in an evidence-based parent training known as Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). The research examined clinical data collected as part of regular practice, including parent attendance, homework completion, and stressors, as well as child behavior ratings. My graduate student worked under my advisement to clean and prepare the data, run analyses, and work with the clinical director to interpret the findings. Our team worked with the director and other clinicians at the clinic to disseminate our findings in a peer-reviewed journal. We are now exploring similar questions using the data the clinic collected when delivering PCIT using teletherapy, following the onset of the pandemic.
