The Greater Lansing African Female Empowerment Program (GLAFEP) seeks to empower African and African American female students in the Greater Lansing area. This is a partnership with the Woven Vessels International ministry and African Female Empowerment Students program at Michigan State University. We usually meet on Sundays for an hour with these young women (most of whom migrated to the US as refugees). Our goal is to provide information and strategies that would help enhance the students self- esteem, hone their study habits, and succeed in their academics. Most of these students attend middle school and high schools within the greater Lansing area. We hope that these students will sometime join Michigan State University upon completing their k-12 education.
