Class of 2026 for both Lansing School District & Waverly Community Schools

Purpose: Career Exploration is one of the pillars of the federal GEAR UP Grant, and the work plan we follow. By having previous participants share their own career journey, allowed student to put a name/face on a career.

Goals: Spotlighted BIPOC industry leaders, entrepreneurs, mainstream careers, non-traditional career seekers, skilled trade workers, etc., all with a variety of career goals, educational pathways, salaries, work schedules, ages, life stages etc. The commonality was their job SATISFACTION, due to the tremendous impact of the GEAR UP Program.

Alumni zoomed in from around the nation, thus role modeling possibilities, opportunities, pathways, and strategies, and showing long-term commitment to giving back to the GEAR UP program. Discussion and student reflection followed with GEAR UP staff facilitating.
