"Show and Tell for Teambuilding" (SEL emphasis on students' for mental health during spring break)
Audience:
Class of 2026 for both Lansing School District & Waverly Community Schools
Purpose: SEL (Social Emotional Learning) via identification and exploration of one's own learning style, success habits, and self-awareness is one of the pillars of the federal GEAR UP Grant, and the work plan we follow.
Goals: Students were invited to create a collage describing their spring break activities related to self-car and building successful habits. This could be a poster board, online slide show, photograph that were screen shared or, sometimes, getting their pets on camera with them. (We met a lot of dogs, cats, snakes and bunnies that day). Learning was accomplished both through those willing to share and observations of the quiet students in the general discussion. Each student participating on camera exhibited an original creation, unique to their own mental health journey. Discussion and student reflection followed with GEAR UP staff facilitating.
