"Financial Considerations When Choosing Your Career"
Audience:
Class of 2026 for both Lansing School District
Purpose: Career Exploration (with Finance emphasis for this workshop) is one of the pillars of the federal GEAR UP Grant, and the work plan we follow.
Goals: Created and exhibited an "Extreme Reality (ER)" type module, widely used with Career/Finance activities for middle school students. This type of simulation assigns each student a random career, and as the game plays out, they see very clearly all the pros and cons of a salary, cost-of-living in different parts of the U.S., lifestyle they are hoping to achieve vis-a-vis salary, etc. Discussion and student reflection followed with GEAR UP staff facilitating.
