Support of IT-related projects for in-and-out of state organizations
This "project" is part of the Capstone course ITM444 (offered every Spring) where organizations with IT-related needs submit their own project proposals to be staffed by student teams of 4-5 students.
We usually attract a range of organizations from local to large-sized, but also MSU research teams, non-profits, MI governmental agencies, etc. This class is composed by students with different backgrounds (but all pursuing the IT minor) which allows for diverse and well-rounded teams. Projects are staffed based on students' skills/interest and project scope.
I taught this class during SS20 first in person, but with the beginning of the pandemic we shifted to fully online. Beyond being one of the instructors, I was also responsible for closely mentoring some of the student teams in their projects, mostly in regards with project management skills.
