The Cube provides a space for diverse ranges of people, places, and communities to participate in communications of all kinds, from traditional book production to user experience research to web and app development. With guided faculty mentorship, our graduate assistants and paid undergraduate interns create and/or oversee a wide variety of digital and print projects.

We publish what matters (to an individual, to an organization, to a community). Our design-thinking process consists of research, client feedback, refinement, testing, and drafting. We apply our praxis of research-driven project management to every project to create desirable, functional, accessible deliverables for every partner.

We undertake projects with significant value to myriad communities both within and beyond Michigan State University and East Lansing. Our design-thinking process includes experiential learning for our team and development of every project from start to finish in partnership with our clients. We believe in generating community impact, hence our focus on praxis.

Our vision is to set a standard of high-quality, open-access publishing and community engagement in the fields of writing studies, UX, and digital humanities.

Within this space, in 2021-22, we undertook and/or completed UX research and development with the Holt Public School District, Giving Tree Farm, Detroit Accessibility Project, and Giving Tree Farm.
