I oversee the College of Education's Precollege summer programs (Teacher Education Academy & Early Success Scholars). In ESS, we outreach to incoming College of Education students (TE & KIN) of Color and invite them participate in what has typically been a 4-week residential program. Students take courses (TE101, Anatomy Seminar, etc.) with College of Education faculty and graduate students. ESS's objective is to prepare TE and KIN first year students of Color for success at MSU. In addition to taking courses, ESS students serve as tutors/mentors in a summer program for children attending urban schools.
