Research with oak savanna restoration throughout the upper Midwest, to provide management recommendations for restoration work in this ecosystem. Among these efforts are long-term experiments at the MSU MacCready Reserve and observations of ~100 oak savannas throughout the region, to understand the consequences of different restoration actions for plant biodiversity and other ecosystem properties. Our team publishes scientific papers and delivers presentations annual to end-user groups, like the Michigan Nature Association and Prairie Enthusiasts. We additionally train students in restoration research and practice, through these efforts, who go on to careers in natural resource conservation and other related areas.
