DSO Summer Institute - Spartan Public Engagment Map

I designed and implemented an intensive one-week virtual summer music education program with colleagues in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It was free of charge for all attendees and helped to fill a void with many summer programs cancelled due to the pandemic. All of the instructors and organizers volunteered our time. We worked with organizations such as Sphinx and NAAS to draw a diverse pool of applicants, which did lead to a diverse group of students. There were approximately 120 participants, all adults, mostly in college or recently graduated (pre-professional).
