I am a project associate on Teaching Science Outdoors Urban Partnerships. TSO-UP (Gail Richmond, Principal Investigator) brings elementary teachers to outdoor spaces and allows them to practice science in a variety of habitats, with a focus on activities that translate to an urban schoolyards. During this time period, we met with elementary teachers from Detroit (DPSCD) and Lansing (LPS) first in the spring virtually for 4 afternoon professional learning sessions and then in July face-to-face for 1 week (for each school district). In the fall, graduate students provided support to teachers to help them develop and conduct outdoor science teaching experiences with their students. Informal science educators are also involved as participants in professional learning experiences.
