Since 2012, Gerald Lindman has served on a five member panel of judges selected by Crain’s Detroit for their annual Best Managed Nonprofit Contest. Duties start in October of each year after the applications are closed. Judges read and rank order all qualifying applications from nonprofit organizations based on the unique topic and criteria for that particular year’s contest. In November the judges convene for presentations by the leadership of those nonprofits chosen as the six finalists. Then in closed session discussion and voting takes place on the finalists that are awarded the recognition by Crain's Detroit as The Best Managed Nonprofits.
