This NIH/NICHD funded study tests the efficacy of interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) for major depression following perinatal loss (early and late fetal death and early neonatal death) in a sample of 274 women in Flint and Detroit, Michigan. This will be the first fully-powered randomized trial of treatment for any psychiatric disorder following perinatal loss. It will eventually serve about 275 women in Southeast Michigan who have experienced perinatal loss, and will result in many more products. So far, websites, social media content, and counselor training manuals have been produced, and more than 250 clinicians around the world have already requested (and received) the intervention manual.
