Scale-Up Research Facility (SURF) in Detroit's Corktown

Ray Boeman directs SURF and the Vehicles Technology Area for the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and is working with Ford and General Motors on two projects as part of a national revitalization of manufacturing competitiveness, especially in the transportation sector: 1) GM-SURF: Development of Tailored Fiber Placement, Multi-functional, Structural Battery Enclosure. 2) DOE-Ford-SURF: Multi-functional Smart Structures for Smart Vehicles
